Services for Legal Professionals
Need to maximize your time? Leave the logistics to us. We provide comprehensive services to ensure you can work effectively on your case. These include:
- Single Point of Contact. We will locate, retain, schedule and/or set up a conference with your expert.
- Document Management Services. We simplify your job by picking up and copying your documents, organizing and delivering the copies to the expert and returning the originals to you. This is done immediately after you retain one of our experts so the expert has sufficient time to properly review and understand your documents. We also offer scanning and bates-labeling upon request.
- Immediate Communication. We put you in contact with your retained expert quickly to ensure you and the expert can define the parameters of your relationship.
- Up-to-date Expert Disclosures. We maintain a current Curriculum Vita or Resume, fee schedule, list of testimony, and list of publications for all of our experts and will promptly provide you with this information upon retention of an expert.
- Fast and Timely Reports. When a written report is requested, we work with the expert to provide you with the report as quickly as possible.
- Scheduling Services. When a deposition is requested, we will gladly contact all parties regarding availability, arrange for a convenient facility and schedule a court reporter. As a case approaches trial, we will work with you and your expert to coordinate scheduling.
Services for Expert Witnesses
I am interested in being an expert.
ECS was specifically designed to provide a complete support solution for professionals interested in providing expert services to the legal community. To that end, we provide the following services to every professional with whom we contract:
- Marketing. As a former litigation attorney, Ingrid Vinci, the founder of ECS, understands what lawyers want and need in terms of expert resources. Using this knowledge, she has positioned ECS for maximum market exposure. ECS has established a presence in many major legal publications, provides in-office presentations at many law firms, and exhibits at legal conventions in Colorado and the surrounding States. Additionally, Ingrid remains active in the Colorado Bar Association and has long-standing relationships with many lawyers and law firms throughout Colorado and surrounding States.
- Scheduling. ECS offers scheduling services for its experts in connection with their ECS-related activities. Whether it is case reviews, inspections, meetings, consultations, conferences, depositions and trial testimony, ECS’s clients can utilize us. We will work closely with you or your staff to best accommodate your schedule and availability.
- Document Management. Once scheduling is finalized, ECS will make arrangements to pick up relevant documents; scan, print, organize and tab the documents according to your preferences;and, deliver the documents to you in your preferred format. Following the completion of a case (or during the time period between rendering your opinion and trial), we offer document storage. This includes storing the records for a period of five years after resolution of a case.
- Required Disclosures. Many State and Federal Courts have specific requirements regarding the information that must be disclosed or provided to the opposing party when an individual is designated as an expert witness. Typically, the required information includes a Curriculum Vita or Resume, a list of publications, a fee schedule, and a list of testimony given as an expert witness. The Courts have been applying these requirements stringently, and experts have been stricken from lawsuits for failure to properly maintain and provide the required disclosures. ECS can maintain your required disclosures for you and make them available to any client who retains you through ECS. Our ability to automatically maintain current records is limited to cases in which you are retained through ECS; you will need to notify us of any changes, updates or modifications for testimony given in non-ECS cases, as well as any changes to your qualifications.
- Transcription. ECS offers transcription services to assist in producing your written opinion or report. You may utilize our phone-in dictation service at no additional charge to you. All dictated reports and opinions submitted to ECS will be transcribed, proof-read and returned to you for review within two business days of receipt by ECS.
- Billing. We handle billing and collection for all cases referred or administered by us.
- Statistical Data. As a testifying expert, you may be subjected to cross-examination designed to undermine your credibility or demonstrate a bias for or against certain types of litigants. Testifying experts also frequently encounter cross-examination regarding the basis or reasonableness of their fees. We track data relating to fees charged by experts of all types and in all specialties, and can provide you with statistical backing to help you determine your fee and demonstrate the reasonableness of that fee. Additionally, when you perform expert services through ECS, we are able to accurately track the amount of time you have spent on each matter, and we can provide a breakdown of the amount of time spent and dollars received by litigant type.
